I spent almost six hours on this thing.

I did a black and white sketch first, then I made a separate layer on Multiply, adding a colors, with one particular rule: never use the Eyedropper tool. Ever. So, every time I had to refine an area, I had to pick a similar looking color. Therefore, I rarely used the exact same color twice.

I'm proud of this piece, as it's personal enough not to serve as a crowd pleaser, yet not egocentric enough to be hard on the eyes of the unprepared.
